Marathon Training 22nd February 2016

The day after my long run and I can tell you it is not a good feeling.

The more training I do the longer my recovery time seems to be and rather than feeling just a little bit tired I am feeling totally exhausted and a bit like I am living in a fog.

It is at points like this where not only do I feel extremely old but I also just don’t think I am going to be able to do this marathon. Not only am I mentally and physically tired but my body also hurts all over.

I walked up to the end of my road in the middle of the day to buy some vegetables and by the time I got back my right knee was hurting as a walked and my right shoulder pain meant I did not have the strength to carry anything

Today is the day when I actually start to do something about what is going on in my body and booked appointments with a podiatrist and osteopath. I am seeing the osteopath on Thursday but had my podiatrist appointment in the afternoon.

When visiting the podiatrist they said I needed to have my toenail removed, as it was quite painful it was clear I needed to have a local anaesthetic and so needed to book an appointment for Wednesday to have this done. I was sent home with a dressing and told to keep it dry until I was next in.

All I can think of at the moment is sleep and making sure I get enough and at the same time wondering about whether I will manage to stay asleep for the whole night.

My diet today was the following:

Breakfast - Vegan Bubble

I am calling this Bubble but basically I just fried up all of the leftovers from roast and stuffed as much in as possible. Sometimes I just need some comfort food and this was definitely that.

Lunch - Salad

After my trip to the greengrocers I had lots of fresh vegetables in the fridge so is the perfect time to fill up with salad

Snack - Rice Cake & Nut Butter

Is there anything else to snack on!

Dinner - Vegetable & Noodle Stir Fry with Peanut Sauce

This was a very tasty dish bulked up with a good dose of Seitan to make sure I was getting enough protein and was left feeling very full after eating this tasty meal.

Evening Snack - Dark Chocolate

As per usually I had a small amount of dark chocolate and half a dark Bounty.

I could not be bothered with my evening routine tonight and just got into bed and went straight to sleep.
