I was looking to make a dessert with a caramel sauce but wanted to do something a bit different and had not come across before. I am funny about black treacle, I think it makes a really nice ingredient but on its own the flavour is too strong for me.
In this sauce you can taste it but there are a lot of other things going on that the treacle is just one of the flavours. This sauce is perfect for anything that requires a caramel sauce or try pouring it warm or cold over vanilla ice cream for a special dessert.
If you are not a fan of black treacle then you could change it for golden syrup or another thick syrup. If you use a thinner syrup then reduce the coconut cream in the recipe otherwise it will be a bit of a thin sauce but might be what you prefer, it is a great recipe to play with.
