News Roundup By Mercedes Aspland / March 4, 2014 I was recently approached by the London Vegan Society and asked to write something about a Meat Free Monday Campaign running in Southwark. It took me next to no time to agree as I think it is a fantastic idea and as an Islington resident would love to extend something like this to our borough. So the basic idea is to encourage residents of Southwark to go meat free on mondays. The campaign has the aim of getting 1% of all Southwark residents meat free on a monday by the end of this year. Their site has information to help, what you can do to go meat free and also places where you can eat. They are working with local restaurants and cafes to offer meat free meals and they are also working with the council to actually turn the whole council meat free on a monday. This is quite an ambitious campaign and one that has real weight behind it. If you live in Southwark and what more information or if you want ideas about how to implement the campaign in your area then you can visit the Southwark Meat Free Mondays website here.
